About

Recovering Hands provides Peer support to women seeking to learn a new way of life after experiencing the degradation and hopelessness of substance abuse and our program is based on the  “each one teach one” model.  The therapeutic value of one recovering person helping another is without parallel.

From the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMSA), a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services:

“Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support workers help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. Peer support services can effectively extend the reach of treatment beyond the clinical setting into the everyday environment of those seeking a successful, sustained recovery process.”
